Larry Zephyr Milligan

Larry Milligan

Larry Zephyr Milligan, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on March 6, 1954, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and moved to Columbus with his family at a young age. Larry was a proud African American man who embodied resilience, hard work, and a zest for life.

Larry was a graduate of South High School. After graduating, he embarked on a successful career as a Motor Builder in the manufacturing industry, working for Rail Products International. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication, Larry earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout his years of service.

Beyond his professional life, Larry found joy in pursuing his passions. He was an avid fisherman and an active member of the Oceans XI Fishing Club. Larry’s adventures took him to the serene waters of Lake Erie and various states, where he skillfully caught bass, walleye and crappie, cherishing every moment spent in nature’s embrace. Additionally, Larry relished the bonds formed over Bid Whist card games, engaging in friendly competitions and creating lasting memories with his friends, especially Darrell, Mike and Barry.

A true sports enthusiast, Larry had a particular fondness for the San Francisco 49ers. Whether it was cheering on his favorite team or engaging in vibrant discussions about the sport with his comrades, Larry’s excitement for the game was contagious and brought people together.

Halloween was his favorite holiday. He would start buying candy in September and begin sorting them by age group. He always made sure the little kids received more than the big kids.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and John Palmer; grandson, Sidney Croom.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Diane Milligan, his loving father, Zep Williams, his children Anthony Milligan and Kezia (Dion Croom Sr.) Cook, his sisters Linda Broom and Barbara Coleman, and his grandchildren Dion Croom Jr, Alexis Croom, Cedric Croom, and Anthony Milligan-Ramos.
