Billy Gene Norwood, formerly of East Saint Louis, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 26, 2023 at his home in Mansfield, Ohio.
Billy was born October 14, 1942, to the late Guysell and JosephineScales Norwood in Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up in East Saint Louis, he was an avid sports fan and played Semi professional baseball with The Saint Louis Saints. Billy affectionately known as (Uncle Billy) leaves to mourn and cherish his memories:Loving and devoted wife of 39 years Johanna Norwood, children: Leslie Baker, Lorriane Anderson, Patrick Baker, Darryl Baker, and Beverly Miles. Bonus Children: Cheryl (Jesse) Solomon, Darrell R. Sr. (Tawanda) Davis, Saundra (Bill) Rose, Samuel Winchester , Kelly Winchester, Jeannine Banks, and one of his last living cousins Frankie Powell, and a Host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.. In addition to his parents Billy was preceded in death by his two sisters Pearline Jean Staton, Wilma Jean Darnell and son Billy Baker. Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later date.
My heart is heavy for my friend Mr. Billy. He’ll truly be missed. I always say “Tell Mr. Billy I said Hello”…… I’ll say “Hello”. when I see you later. Rest in peace.
