Mrs. Troy Ray

TROY RAY COVER PHOTO 0001

Troy (Adkins) Ray, 80, went home to be with The Lord on December 7, 2023.

Troy was born October 6, 1943 in Charleston, Missouri, to Green Adkins and Lela (Simpson) Adkins. A loving mother to James Edward Ray, Jr., Troy was an active member of the Mansfield community and a faithful parishioner of the Apostolic Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Board Member. Troy retired from Oak Grove Manor where she served as a Dietary Aide.

For the youth who were dear to her heart, Troy found joy in teaching them the word of God and sharing her gift and passion of crafting. She also enjoyed fellowshipping and breaking bread with family and friends where her smile and laughter demonstrated her kindness.

Troy treasured her son, James Edward Ray, Jr. whom she considered more than a son, he was her best friend. Her love for family, church, and friends reflected her warm spirit and genuine affection.

Troy is survived by her sister, Lilly “Tina” Adkins of Mansfield, Ohio; granddaughter, Takara Troy Ray; great grandson, Elijah Kirby, and her special niece whom she referred to as “the daughter she never had”, Renatha “Nasa” Ray-Mitchell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Green and Lela Adkins; brothers, Leonard Adkins and Grady Adkins, and her beloved son, James Edward Ray, Jr.

Throughout the years of her life, Troy’s vibrant personality touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.

  12. Troy was a friend, a spiritual sister who loved the Lord with all her might. We were very close and we loved each other dearly. Each time, which was every year that I returned home I would visit her. I usually called her once a month. She is waiting on that great get up morning to be with the Lord. Nasa thank you for caring and loving her. Action speaks louder than words. I miss her but she is out of pain, loneliness and being alone.
