Vera Pearl (Harris) Jones was born on May 15, 1954 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Walter and Beatrice Todd Harris. She departed this earthly life on March 8, 2024 at the age of 69 yrs.
Vera moved to Mansfield, Ohio in January 1979. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of New Life Baptist Church, where she served as Vice-President of Pastoral Care, she was a member of the Trustee Board and she had a passion for working on the First Lady’s programs as the Mistress of Ceremony.
Vera’s work experience started at the Ohio State Reformatory in 1984. After she became ill she retired in 2003. Her work continued on serving her family which she lovingly referred to them as her people, she also played a great role in her community and was also one who served the Lord being a witness to His greatness, love and mercy.
Vera leaves to cherish her memories a husband of 35 years Kenneth D. Jones, her children Cedric, Keysha, Sharon, Alitheia Jones, Kevin Jones and Keyna Young; 14 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Beatrice Todd Harris, a daughter Shannon Young, a son Traves, a sister Corine Harris, and 2 brothers George and Edward Harris.
