Ms. Kimberly Joy Parsons

Kimberly Parsons main

Kimberly Joy Parsons was born on April 27, 1970, to the late Lawrence R. and Hazel L. (McDowell) Parsons. She departed this life on January 7, 2024.

Kimberly completed her early education years at Temple Christian School, Mansfield, Ohio, later attending Malabar High School where she participated and played in the marching band. She graduated and received her high school diploma with the class of 1988. Kim continued her education in Columbus, Ohio, and gained employment as a Contractor for The Department of Corrections, working as a phlebotomist at the Medical Center in Columbus.

Kim attended Crossroads Church of Mansfield, being a very active member in her bible study group, feeding the homeless and participating in many other church activities. She could light up any room that she entered with her infectious smile and spread joy with that shy giggle of hers. She enjoyed cooking, baking, decorating cakes, taking pictures and spending time with her family, friends and her little buddy, Ki’yon Dillon whom she loved as her own. She was a true Buckeye and loved all things Ohio State!

Kim is survived by 3 aunts, Rita Dulin, Columbus, OH., Carolyn M. Catchings (Kary, Jr.), Trotwood, OH., and Marietta Thomas, Kettering, OH; 3 uncles, Melvin McDowell, (Dovie), Akron, OH, Wyatt McDowell, (Sherry), Douglasville, GA. and Harrison McDowell (Delores), Mansfield, OH; lifelong best friend and sister Tish Erskine Ginn; and a host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and brother David Craig Parsons, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leon Lafayette and Agnes Elizabeth (Jefferson) McDowell, her paternal grandparents, William Parsons and Maebell (Walker) Parsons Carpenter.

Kimberly, affectionately known as Kimmie, was everyone’s little sister, not just on E. Arch St. where she grew up, but throughout the City of Mansfield. To know her was to love her. Even as an adult, she remained that, and she will be greatly missed by us all!

REST WELL OUR SWEET KIMMIE!

My Kimmie my little sister words can not describe the sheer shock and pain I feel at this moment. You were one of the kindest sweetest people I have ever met, I will never forget being lab partners and getting in trouble in Mr Bishops biology class at Malabar for having our frog break dancing on the table, then crying when we actually had to dissect it thinking we were hurting it. Our trips to Michigan to visit your aunt and uncle. All the trips to Columbus we took with my nephew your lil bighead dude Ki’Yon and of course I’ll never forget you helping me Feed My Sheep every third friday at the Oasis Of Love Church. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of the family laughing at Mr Lawrence calling me Donnell or just joking around with you and Dave I’ve never met siblings as close as you and Dave were such an awesome display of love and devotion. I will just never ever stop missing or forget you or the love you showed me lil sis. You got your wings now fly high my angel. Keep watching over us till we meet again Love ya always Danielle K Parks.

I am really having a difficult time processing this loss and that is the selfish side of me. I had fallen out of touch with both Kim and David after leaving Mansfield. The news of their deaths has left a hole in my heart. Going forward I am choosing to remember both of their infectious smiles and the laughter that they generated whenever they were in my presence. I know you are both with your parents now and that your family is reunited again. Peace to David and Kim and your remaining family here on earth.
