Nelvina Holloway (Smith), age 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday,
November 9, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio.
Nelvina was born on December 3, 1934 in Pigeon, West Virginia to the parents of Walter Smith and Mabel Hagwood. She was affectionally known to her family and friends as Vi, Ms. Vi, Mom, Mom Holloway, Grandma, Grams and Baby Cakes. She truly enjoyed being around her family and they would often gather at her house for family gatherings. She also enjoyed watching her favorite, Ohio Buckeyes, play college football. She also liked to play spades while drinking E&J with Pepsi. She loved taking weekend trips to the casino with her
sister, Lib.
Nelvina was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mabel Smith; her son, Walter Bruce Smith; her brothers James Smith and Gordon Hagwood and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Evans; a special Aunt, Annie Mae Shruggs, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Nelvina leaves to cherish her memories: Sons Mike (Angela) of Florida, Kenny (Sherri) and John Holloway; her Aunt, Charity, driver of North Carolina, Latonya Napier, Tiffany Smith, Sayveon Jordan and a host of grandchildren (24), great grandchildren (54), great great grandchildren (4), special friends from the Southfield neighborhood and Mr. & Mrs. Williams.
Grandma, I miss you so much, but I truly thank God that you are no longer suffering. Rest well my love, until we meet again.
