Tanya “Tangie” Valacia Davis Nelson, age 60, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 24,2022, at Ohio State University Hospital. She was born on April 25,1962 in Birmingham, Alabama, the third of five children born to the union of Newman Davis and Loretta (Hall) Davis.

Tangie, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, had a heart of gold and made everyone who had the privilege of knowing her feel loved. We will miss her caring spirit, her infectious laugh, and her gift of cooking that made every meal feel like home.

Tangie was preceded in death by her father, Newman Davis; grandfather, Charlie L. Hall; grandmother, Leathan Hall; grandfather, Andrew Davis; grandmother, Neatha Davis; son, Derrick L Davis; brother, Bobby Hall; and sister, Bridget (Wilson) Emanuel.

Tangie leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Robert Nelson; daughter, Katrina (John) Davis; sons, Nicholas (Mellison) Davis and Demetrius (Michelle) Franks; stepdaughter, Denequia (Kinathi) Dixon; sisters, Pamela Davis and Kimberly (Davis) Nalls; grandchildren, Derrick Davis Jr, Tai’Azhanae (Pha’lon) Lion, Sherman Cleveland, Darren Davis, Domonic Davis, Dillon Davis, McKenzie Davis, RaNajha Maye, Princess Dixon, and Kiera Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
