Angie L. Williams, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2023, after an extended illness. Born in Percy, Mississippi on June 15, 1943, Angie touched the lives of all who knew her with her compassion, strength, and unwavering love. Angie was raised in a Christian household with seven siblings and confessed her love for Christ at an early age.

Angie was preceded in death by her parents: George and Beatrice Coats; her sister, Georgia B. (Coats) Williams; ex-husband, James O. Williams; and brother, Louis A. Coats. Angie was a woman of many remarkable qualities. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she devoted herself to their happiness and well-being. Always putting others first, Angie continuously extended a helping hand to friends and loved ones, demonstrating a selfless and caring nature that will forever be remembered.

With her petite frame and fierce spirit, Angie proved time and time again that true strength lies not in physical stature but in determination and resilience of the heart. Her passion for serving others was evident in the time she volunteered “behind the scenes,” making a positive impact without seeking recognition.

Angie was known for her cooking skills and her ability to transform ordinary ingredients into delicious meals. She found joy in experimenting with new recipes, and her home was always filled with the aroma of her amazing creations. Angie's love for cooking was surpassed only by her love for her family, as she took immense pleasure in preparing meals that brought them together.

Angie was also an avid gardener, took immense pride in her lawn and possessed a remarkable knack for nurturing houseplants. Angie’s deep-rooted faith in God guided her through life’s challenges, providing her with the strength to overcome obstacles with grace. A devoted member of the historic Second Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, she served as the President of the Women's Usher Board for many years. She was thrilled to receive the Women’s Usher Board “Usher of the Year” award and a Leadership Award for her commitment to the Women’s Usher Ministry. Angie’s legacy will be eternally celebrated by her cherished daughters Cynthia (Eric) Bass and Kimberly (Bruce) Dorsey, sister Nerma (Jacob) Cockrell, brother John (Booker Rene) Coats Sr., sister Alveria Crump, sister Patricia (Howard) Jessamy, sister Brenda McFarland, granddaughters Imani Dorsey, Nia Dorsey and Trinity Dorsey, close friend, Geraldine Dorsey as well as a host of extended family and friends. Angie’s love and spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts. We find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire us for generations to come. She will be dearly missed. Rest in eternal peace, Angie. Love you always!

What a beautiful tribute you shared on how Angie had such a beautiful, loving spirit that she shared with so many family & friends. I truly loved your Mom so this took me for a loop as I’m coming home and my plan was to contact Angie and prayerfully I would get a chance to visit her during my Thanksgiving visit.
