Betty Ann Owens, age 78, returned to her heavenly home holding the hand of the Almighty Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, after a prolong illness at The Ohio State University Hospital East.

Betty was born to Felton and Mildred Davis. Betty was the first born of eight children. She attended the Columbus City Schools. She married at a young age to Bennie Owens and had two children, Erline “Tootie” and Aaron; both who predeceased her.

Betty worked and retired from the Ohio State University Hospital where she was the Head Cook for many years.

Betty loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved people and sought to help them.
Betty was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and started serving at an early age in the Youth Choir. She served faithfully for many years on the Stewardess Board #1 . She cooked many meals at the church and was the originator of the pot of cabbage/greens.

Betty is preceded in death by parents, Felton and Mildred Davis; husband, Bennie Owens; daughter, Erline “Tootie”; son, Aaron; and sister, Joyce.

Betty is survived by sisters, Muzetta Roberts, Nancy Suber and Myrtice “Penny” Shepherd; brother, Felton (Martha) Davis, Jr.; grandchildren, Dewayne Owens, Ashley Monique Williams, Erica Owens, Eric Owens, Michelle Owens, Eddie Owens, Marquita Owens, Shawn Aaron Owens, Little Erin Owens, and Briana Sequoyah Barnes; ten great-grandchildren; special friends, Joyce Perry, Carol Ann Davis, Carol Craft and Diane Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, June 12, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
