Carlos Singleton was born July 12, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia to Elijah Singleton and Mamie McGirt Singleton. He transitioned from Earth to Heaven on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the age of 76.

Carlos was an extremely proud American and honored veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a faithful, hard-working employee of John Deere & Company where he retired in 2004 after nearly 30 years of service.

Carlos enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found cooking his favorite foods on his grill, in his smoker or using his “southern ingenuity”, makeshift, front-porch grill. He was especially fond of seafood, particularly blue crabs, and would coordinate outdoor seafood feasts with his family whenever he visited his hometown of Savannah. He also loved reading the newspaper, listening to music, and watching his favorite football teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Mamie Singleton; and sisters, Vivian Malone, Shirley Miller, Joyce Martin, and Jewell Proctor.

Carlos leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted former wife, Bernadean Singleton; daughters, Latoia (Frank) Burgess, Tami (Jeff) Hairston, Dana (Curtis) Freeman, and Carlita (Kevin) Smith; sisters, Nathalee Mitchell and Jacqueline Fordham; and a multitude of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, former in-laws, and friends.

Visitation 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM , Saturday, August 29, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave. Masks and Social Distancing Regulations are required.

Interment 3:00 PM at Eastlawn Cemetery.

Dad- you protected and provided for your family. Yes, you were strict and stern and now as a grown woman, I realize it was because you had a wife and four daughters to protect. I am grateful for all you have taught me in life. I already miss hand dancing with you. It was you who introduced us to the South and eating Seafood. I thank you and love you.

Uncle Carlos, I remember the times you would visit home. We all would gather as a family and eat bushels of crabs because that was your absolute favorite. I remember you love crabs so much you had the gold chain. The wonderful memories on this earth with you, how we’ll ride around in the convertible with the top down and how you had to have at least two boxes of Klondike bars. My condolences to our family! Now you’re with your family again.
