Doris Jean Rooks, 91, passed away on April 21, 2022. Doris was born on December 8, 1930 in Louisville, Ky to Emma and William Prentice Jr.
Doris was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High and member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served with the Mothers Board, Deaconess, Missionary, and Choir Ministries. She was a businesswoman, owning and operating Doris’ Beauty Salon.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Prince Rooks.
Doris is survived by daughters; Gloria Smith, Deborah (Frank) Bonham; Carol ( Jeff) Payton and Brenda Rooks; foster daughter, Dottie (George) Baker of Nicholasville, KY; 2 adopted daughters, Lovelia Kim Rawls and Pamela (Nathan) Powell; brothers, Jerry (Pat) Prentice, Richard Trench, William Prentice Jr.; sisters, Barbara Wilcox, Emma Tucker, Wilena Hawkins and Marika Thompson; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 27 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE MANSFIELD, 753 McPherson St. (formerly Williams Funeral Services). Interment at Mansfield Cemetery.

I remember Mrs. Rooks, she was very sweet to me and my sister. We grew up watching Aunt Brenda going my Grandmother’s hair. Sometimes Mrs. Rooks would be there too. My sincere condolences to all of her Immediate Family, and to all who she made FEEL like family.
