Helen Delores Duncan was born June 4, 1943, in Huntingdon, PA to the late Anderson Mitchell, Sr. and Anna Mae Mitchell.

Helen and her family moved to Steubenville, OH in 1947, where she graduated from Steubenville Big Red High School in 1961. That same year, she moved to Harrisburg, PA to work. Then in 1968 she moved to Columbus, OH, and in 1970 at the age of 27, purchased a brand new home for her and her 3 children.

Helen was employed at Motorist Mutual Insurance Company for 36 years and retired in 2005. She was a dedicated worker, and loved to talk about her family, and the love of Jesus Christ. Sister Helen Duncan gave her life to the Lord in 1978 at Rehobeth Temple. She later joined Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in 1979, where she wore many hats. She served as an Usher for over 40 years. She also was a Fundraising Captain, helped launch the Radio Ministry, served on the Board of Trustees, and served annually at the MLK Breakfast among other things.

Helen was blessed to marry a good man, Mr. Edward Duncan, in 1999. She enjoyed a beautiful union with him until his passing in 2002.

Helen was wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful servant, born leader, woman of integrity, and did everything with a spirit of excellence. She loved gardening, traveling, and being with family.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; Anderson Mitchell, Sr. and Anna Mae Mitchell, husband; Edward Duncan, stepfather; John Harris, brothers; Dwight Mitchell and Anderson Mitchell, Jr., sisters; Barbara Jean Clark and Patricia Ann Newsome, and granddaughter; Joy Ann Peace Smith.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted children, sons, Terry (Hope) Mitchell and Andre’ (Robin) Mitchell; daughter, Cynthia Mitchell; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Audrey (Wilbert) Weatherly, Nancy (John) Douglas, Thomas (Tracy) Mitchell, Arnold (Charlene) Mitchell, and Donald Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Mt. Zion COGIC, 1466 Atcheson Street.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
