Jason Briggs, 44, passed this life on Tuesday, October 5, 2022, at his home.

Jason was born to Adolph and Shirley (Royster) Briggs, Sr., on Friday, December 2, 1977, in Mansfield, Ohio.  Jason attended Mansfield City Schools Ranchwood – Malabar and graduated from Mansfield Senior High where he served as Class President. Jason went on to college at The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration – Jason loved his Ohio State Buckeyes! Jason then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Medical Administration from Mt. Vernon Nazarene College. Jason was loved by all he encountered, earning hundreds of friends and coworkers worldwide, and his Crock Pot Pizzas and Cabbage & Sausage always had mouths watering in anticipation.

While growing up in Mansfield, Jason attended Mt. Hermon Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Joel L. King, Sr., and was a member of the Sunshine Band under the direction of Mrs. Lucy Swarn.  We as parents always told him “never forget your spiritual up bringing” and to “always reach back on your faith and love of God. Always put God first and all will be alright.”

In addition to his loving parents Jason leaves to mourn his brother: James (Jackie) Royster of Evergreen, Alabama; aunts Geraldine Mims, Katena Briggs, Ruby Briggs, Mattie Cooper; uncle John Reynolds; great aunts: Evelyn Walker, and Ivy L. Briggs; special cousin Lillie Boykin and a host of loving nieces, nephew, cousins, family and friends who all loved him dearly and truly miss him.

Jason was preceded in death by brothers: Adolph “Skeeter” Briggs, Jr., and Christopher Cohee, sister: Ida Weidman and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Columbus Association of Performing Arts 55 E. State St. Columbus, 43215 (614-469-1045)

Visitation will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Peace East with funeral services at 2:00 p.m.

Final disposition will be in Mt. Pilgrim Church Cemetery, Loango, Alabama Wednesday, October 19, 2022 11:00 a.m.

  1. To Jason’s beloved family, I send prayers and love your way in this sad time. You are on my heart and mind. Jason was such a dear, loving man. It was a privilege to know him and to be called his friend. He made every space he entered more gentle, more loving. He exuded grace and patience. I’m so sad that we won’t be able to see him again in this life, but that sadness is tempered by knowing he’s simply saving seats for all of his friends and loved ones, waiting patiently for for the day we’ll get to see him again.

I had the honor of working with Jason at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He was a
warm-hearted man with a gentle soul. Always smiling and offering a kind word to everyone who crossed his path. Equally compassionate in the work he did in support of our team members and could always be counted on for his subject matter expertise. I will miss seeing Jason come down the hallway, dressed to the T with his signature bow tie, and that hundred-watt smile. His light remains with us at NCH.
