In Loving Memory of John Wesley Oglesbee

The world mourns the loss of a beloved soul, as John Wesley Oglesbee bids adieu to this mortal realm. Born on October 25, 1961, in Lima, OH, Johnnie “Guitar” Oglesbee embarked on his heavenly journey on April 12, 2024, in Columbus, OH, with his loving wife Lori Oglesbee and daughter Nieyatta Oglesbee by his side.

“John Boy,” as he was affectionately known, emanated a gentle strength, graduating from Mifflin High School and later dedicating a chapter of his life in service to the US Army. His tunes of joy played on in his love for music, fishing, and the allure of travel. A man of few words but profound depth, he resonated his empathy far and wide, always seeking the goodness in every soul he met.

In 1989, John married his soulmate, Lori, embarking on a journey of love and togetherness that is eternally cherished. With admirable brevity, he cut to the heart of matters, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and understanding in his wake.

As we bid farewell to a man of honor, a soldier of compassion, and a melody of light, may his spirit find eternal solace in the embrace of heavenly symphonies. Let us remember John not with tears of sorrow but with the song of love that he strummed into the hearts of all who knew him.

May his essence dwell forever in the hearts that he touched, a sweet melody echoing through the annals of time, resonating with the beauty of a life lived well.

Forever in our hearts, Johnnie “Guitar” Oglesbee, a cherished husband, father, veteran, and friend.

John was preceded in death by: John Oglesbee, Emma Oglesbee

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Nieyatta Oglesbee; grandaughters, Naylani Roberts and Janiyah Dunbar; brothers, Fred oglesbee, William (Gloria) Oglesbee; sisters, Donza Bucannon and Joan Oglesbee and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services, a testament to the life of this remarkable man, will be conducted in his honor. A Family Viewing shall be held at the Chapel of Peace – North on April 26, 2024, at 4:00 pm, followed by a Visitation at Grace Baptist Church on April 27, 2024, at 10:00 am, leading up to the Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Grace Baptist Church.

With a heart heavy yet resolute, we applaud Johnnie “Guitar” Oglesbee and honor his memory with a Burial service on April 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, in Dayton, OH, his final resting place.
