Malikka Hafeesa Bey Brown, 44, was born on December 29, 1977 to Lee Brown and Sandra Newton (Brown). She passed away on August 22, 2022.

She was an only child. Malikka was raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Eastmoor High School. She went on to attend Columbus State Community College but due to her love of “all things beauty”, she decided on Cosmetology School. Malikka became a licensed esthetician and worked at Eyebrowz in Eastland Mall.

In April 2003, Malikka became the proud mother of her only child, DreSaun Houston and he became the focus of her life.

Her smile and fun-loving spirit will be missed.

Malikka was preceded in death by her father; Lee Brown, maternal grandfather; Donald Colson, grandmothers; Virginia Colson and Clara Kenley, cousin; Donielle Escobedo.

Malikka leaves to cherish her memories, son; DreSaun Houston, mother; Sandra Newton, stepfather; Ron Newton, grandmother Bernice Basden, aunts; Beverly Escobedo and Alora Steele. A host of cousins (including her cousin, Bob (Bido) Colson, who was more like a brother to her). She also leaves behind many friends, which includes, KaSandra Clark, Maegan Philmore, Melanie Glenn-Gunther, Stephen Houston, Sr., Curtis Sowell and Edward Carter.

  6. My deepest condolences to the family of Malikka. I have the fondest of memories of her from our days at Norcross High. Matching outfits.. hair.. we even got a nose piercing together which we had to cover up due to our job at the pharmacy. Those were the times of being young! She had such a kind spirit and her laugh was infectious. I’ll never forget that laugh, it was one of those that when she started laughing, it instantly made you laugh as well. I definitely cherish that time of friendship with her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
