Mr. Louis Will Owens

Mr. Louis Will Owens, a man of integrity, who loved his children with all his heart and would to anything for any one of them.  He accepted Jesus at a young age as a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi.  The silver cord parted, and Mr. Louis Will Owens went home to be with the Lord in his spirit body Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

 

Born in Columbus, Mississippi on February 25, 1926, to Will Owens and Ethel Spruill Owens.  He married Eva Mae Briggs December 2, 1944.

 

They decided to leave Mississippi and come to Mansfield, Ohio in 1946.  He worked at Empire Detroit Steel Cyclops Steel as an Operator in The Tandem Mill and retired from AK Steel after 45 years of service.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Eva of 51 years, his parents, Will and Ethel Owens, his stepmom Amelia Owens, infant sister Willie Queen Owens, sister Nellie McGregory, brothers Johnny “Sonny” Owens and Edward Owens, infant grandson Diallo Richey, eldest daughter Virginia Jones and sons L A Owens and Dempsey ”Demser” Owens.

 

He is survived by his sisters Mattie Tucker and Lovie Williams of Mansfield, Ohio, Ethel Harris of Stockton, California and brother George Owens of Meridian, Mississippi.

 

He is also survived by his children Jan (Greg) Woods of Capital Heights, Maryland, W Queen (Ronald) Dulin-McKinney, Mansfield, Ohio, James (Barbara) Owens, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Johnny SR (Belinda) Owens, and Timothy (Serena) Owens, Columbus, Ohio , Jill (Mark) Anderson and Rhonda (Isaac) Porter of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sandy (Kenneth) Everson, Gahanna, Ohio and daughter-in-law Ramona (princess) Owens.

 

He is also survived by his eldest granddaughter, Charlene, his eldest grandson Diallo, and Kahmeelah, Jelani, Jahmeelah, Ayeesha, Kahlililla, Juba, Chris, Dayana, Orlando, Terry Star, Lorraine, LA, JC, Janea, Derron, Sierra, Neeko, Tyree, Saijee, Hasson, Nioka, Timothy Jr., Traci, Jasmine, Teannah, Tiarah, Shirley, and Johnny Jr.

This blessed man, Louis Owens, who we affectionately call DADDY OWENS is survived by 30 grandkids, 51 great grandkids and 26 great-great grandkids and a host of other family and friends.

  6. I worked with Louis on the Tandem Mill for a few years. He was one of the most dedicated and conscientious men I’ve ever known. I never heard him raise his voice or say an unkind word about anyone. RIP Louis. May your family be blessed by your memory.
