It’s with deep regret that I’m unable to travel to be with you all for this sad occasion. The world of the Porter-Holmes family has just gone through another upheaval with the sudden loss of Bobby Shawn. He had such a unique outlook on life. And that sweet smile. We’ll miss growing old with him but each of us has a time to leave. Saying goodbye is never easy. Let’s try to do what we can to help each other find comfort, through prayer, or through talking, or through listening, or through laughter, or through kindness, or through love, to keep on creating pleasant memories to carry us whenever we think of the proud family we belong to. May the Lord continue to keep us all in His loving care.

Sent to Bob’s family with heartfelt sympathy from Cousin Dot Lee.

  5. To the Betton family, I am so sorry for your loss of Robert. At 1 Corinthians 15:26 it tells us “And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.” It is an enemy because we have inherited sin and death. However, because of God’s loving kindness he provided Jesus Christ as a ransom sacrifice for our sins! (John 3:16) You have God’s promise that Robert will live again. (Acts 24:15)

  6. Dear Betton Family,
I am so sorry to have read of your loss; please accept my sincere condolences. Something that I have personally found to be of great comfort are the thoughts expressed at John 5:28, 29 as well as Revelation 21:4. In these verses, we find a wonderful hope for the future of being reunited with our loved ones upon the earth the way it was originally intended–free from sickness, suffering, and death. Knowing this has comforted me greatly and it is my sincere hope that these thoughts comfort your family as well. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

  7. My deepest condolences to the Betton family. May the cherished memories gives you strength as you endure these difficult times. May th God of love also give you strength, peace and comfort as you await the promises of a time when death will be a thing of the past. Isaiah 26:19
