Robin Lorayne Holmes passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Grant Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Robin was born October 1, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio.

Robin was a longtime resident of Southfield and loved her community. Robin graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1983, where she gained the opportunity through the COE program to work for the State of Ohio. She was an employee of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles for 10 years before leaving to take on babysitting for nieces and nephews. Robin’s passion and love was centered in her family. Robin was the third eldest of her siblings, only a few minutes older than her
twin, Rochelle. She and her twin could feel each other’s pain, celebrated each other’s victories and when Rochelle got sick, Robin was by her side to care for her. They are now made whole and together again.

Robin enjoyed writing short stories and poems, cooking, shopping, board games, watching her Pittsburgh Steelers, hosting parties, and enjoying life. If she was with family, she was truly in heaven. She had a love of fashion, shoes, and food. Robin had a strong faith in God and maintained unwavering strength, which she displayed throughout her life, even in her sickness. A true example of her favorite song, Superwoman, by Karen White.

Robin is preceded in death by parents, Phyllis (Long) Jefferson and General Jefferson Jr.; son, Te’Von C. Holmes; granddaughter, Kaylani Parker; brother, Ronald J. Holmes, and her twin sister, Rochelle Lynn Williams.

Robin was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Tia Ray and Deon (Capri) Taylor; granddaughter, Kenley Parker; sisters, Chana (Pastor Robert) Taylor and Rhonda (Jon) Langford; sister-in-law, Mary Holmes and brother-in-law, George Williams; step-brothers, General III (Ceola), Robert (Patricia), William and Joseph Jefferson; step-sisters, Belinda and Doris Jefferson, Cornell Buris, Velvet Buris; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of other family and friends. A special mention to Robin’s forever best friends, Rhonda Brown and Dawn Ferguson and the love of her life, Johnny Ray.

Visitation 4:00 PM and Funeral Service 5:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).

    To my sister-in-law Robin,
You are the epitome of what strength is and should be. A incredible woman who loved and adored family. Moreover, a savant here on earth. The angels of heaven became a bit brighter when you knocked upon the doorway of the pearly gates of heaven. Yo really are a SUPER WOMAN! Well done my beautiful sister, well done!

  3. Roberta Ann Zimmerman

Robyn you was my closest cousin. Even in your times of sickness, you would periodically call and check on me and the children. You are the most strongest person I know, you endured hard times without complaining even once and never said “Why me?!” I love you and you will always be my inspiration.
