Walter Bruce Smith, age 60, passed away peacefully at home in Columbus, Ohio.

 

 

Walter attended Linden McKinley High School, played in the band and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan. The oldest of four brothers he enjoyed his family, children, grandchildren and making people laugh.

 

Walter is Preceded in death by his granddaughter, De’eonna Lockett, father Crawford Garland, uncle James Earl Smith and grandparents Walter and Mable Smith.

 

He is survived by his loving mother Nelvina Holloway, sons, Michael Orr, Marques (Christal) Smith, daughters Latonya Naphier, Tiffany Robinson, Tamieka, Karmen, Karie Smith, Dyisha Gibbs, Sarah Orr, 18 grandchildren, brothers Michael (Angela) Holloway, James (Sherri) Holloway, John Holloway Sr., Jacob (Edith) Holloway Jr., Gene (Barbara) Holloway, and Ernest Holloway, sisters Linda (Larry) Floyd, Renee (William) Freeman and Donnett Groves, 2 uncles Gordon Hagwood and Andrew (Lucy) Smith, 4 aunts Mary Evans, Neomi Lilly, Annie Mae Scruggs and Charity Driver and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    I am just learning about Bruce passing I am soo sorry to hear this. I pray for comfort for the family. We were in Marching band together at Linden and he was a good percussionist and a lot of fun.He often would visit my brother Mike and my parents at our home with the rest of the band members Friday night’s after the game.
