William Barber Jr.

William G (Yanny) Barber, age 82, was born July 15, 1937. He passed away on July 27, 2019. William was the only child of the late William G. Barber and Ruth Barber.

William was a proud graduate of Columbus East High in 1957. He received an athletic scholarship from The Ohio State University.

William entered into the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1964. In 1967 he married the love of his life Jean.

He was employed at General Motors and later worked for TWA. He then began working for American Airlines until his retirement. After retiring from American Airlines, William became a member of Saint Dominic’s Catholic Church in Columbus Ohio, where he was baptized and joined The Knights of Peter Claver. He remained active with East High School Alumni Breakfast until his health prevented him from attending

William is preceded in death by his parents, William G. Barber and Ruth (Barber) Philpott.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 52 years Jean Barber; sons, Rodney McClain, Marshall Taylor and Kevin Frye; daughters, Karen McClain, Carmen McClain, Netta Armstead, Nekita fields; a host of grandchildren; sister Marina Barber; devoted cousins, Sammy (Peggy) Hopkins and Billy (Tracy) Hopkins.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Monday, August 5, 2019 at ST. Dominic Church, 453 N 20th Street.

Interment at Glen Rest Cemetery.
