Derrick Marcel Goliday Sr., was born in Warren, Ohio to Luther Henry and Barbara Jean Caldwell Goliday on July 28, 1967, the second of three children. He was baptized as a child at Second Baptist Church.  Derrick graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and went on to study at Fairmont University in West Virginia before settling down in Columbus, Ohio.   Derrick worked for The City of Warren in the Sanitation Department for 11 years.  He was also a supervisor at DSW, where he worked for nearly 20 Years.  Derrick enjoyed sports of all kinds, had a passion for football and basketball and loved bowling.  He also spent several years coaching little league football.  Derrick was a lover of music, traveling and fine dining.  Derrick was the proud father of 11 children and still found room in his heart to foster several children for 14 years.

Derrick was the epitome of a gentleman.  A strong black man who exuded black love.  He loved his family fully and completely.  A great communicator and extremely kind-hearted person who knew how to work a room.  He was consistently hospitable to everyone who knew him, no one would ever be able to call him a hater.

Derrick was blessed to have been able to spend the last 19 years of his life with his best friend, his loving friend, his partner in life, his wife of 14 years, Mindy.  In her words “you don’t realize what you have until it’s what you had”.

Derrick was an amazing husband, loving son, wonderful brother, outstanding father, reliable friend, and good uncle. He was always willing to not only listen but give amazing advice.  He always wanted everyone in his life to shine and ensured that he always held the light for his wife, Mindy a loving person.

Derrick was preceded in death by his father Luther.  He is survived by his mother Barbara, wife Mindy, brothers Stephan Caldwell and Vincent (Angel) Goliday, children Jessica, Derick Jr., Jamiel, Lamar, Marty, Charles, Jasmine, Don, (Kenyatta), Sir Sterling, Courtney, Conner, and MacKenzie (Ben), 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and special friends Glen and Metric Hugley.
